Challenge An extensive refurbishment of Scotland’s most prestigious boutique shopping centre , Princes Square, over a three year period with five construction phases with a total cost of £5.5m.
Solution Our Building Surveying team helped establish the Design Team, undertook Feasibility Studies and thereafter investigated and managed how the works would have to be phased whilst this shopping centre traded on a near 24/7 basis, given a number of nightclubs and restaurants in the building. The projects included: forming a new lift shaft through the main services riser within one of the rear access staircases to create a new public area; the relocation of boiler rooms and plant to roof level releasing space to build new public toilet; the reconfiguration of toilets to the upper floor levels; and extensive refurbishment of all areas within the Centre and atrium.
Result Phase 4 works to procure the highly decorative metal foliage work on the front elevation have just been concluded.
