Disposal of site with planning consent for an Energy-from-Waste facility

Poplar Holdings owned development land in Peterborough in the UK, which benefited from planning consent for a c.80MW Energy-from-Waste facility, and was looking to sell the site as a project development opportunity.  The client counted on our extensive experience of working with developers of Energy-from-Waste facilities, connections in the market and know-how in running a structured disposal process for Renewable Energy projects to deliver the right deal.
Throughout the disposal process, the Renewable Energy Capital team was geared to identifying and generating the interest of known developers and securing the best possible price and terms.

Our advice included:

  • Providing a list of potential bidders for the site from our extensive global market knowledge
  • Obtaining initial Expressions of Interest from a long list of potential bidders
  • Recommending a shortlist of bidders to be invited to submit final offers
  • Obtaining and reviewing final offers
  • Working with Poplar Holdings and its legal advisers to finalise an Exclusivity Agreement followed by a Share Purchase Agreement with the preferred bidder
