Transfer of UNITE Student Accommodation Fund units

Secondary Market Brokerage

In late 2008, Jones Lang LaSalle Corporate Finance identified significant investor demand in the UNITE Student Accommodation Fund, a c. £700m fund that owns 16,000 student units, due to the fund’s continued outperformance.

Jones Lang LaSalle Corporate Finance was also aware of a substantial unit holder in the fund who was keen to reduce their overall indirect exposure, given the market conditions at the time.

Jones Lang LaSalle Corporate Finance notified the investor as to the potential opportunity and was asked to source suitable buyers for c. £50m of units. JLLCF created and managed the bidding process, drove the process to a successful close and sold the investor’s entire holding to two reputable buyers.

Jones Lang LaSalle Corporate Finance have worked on many such transactions, helping investors find liquidity in a timely and efficient manner. We are recognised leaders in secondary market execution, regularly quoted and sourced in the industry press. We are often able to buy and sell units at advantageous pricing relative to other market.
