The campaign includes a game, website and Facebook page and will be presented on an interactive stand where visitors can meet graduate trainees from all the participating property firms. If you’d like to get involved please do visit the Facebook page and give your experience of working in property.

Commenting on the campaign, Andrew Gould, UK Chief Executive Jones Lang LaSalle, said: “Those of us working in the property industry know how exciting and opportunity rich our careers can be. For years we have struggled to increase diversity at the entry point to our industry for the simple reason that many school leavers do not even know our industry exists. We want to change that. We have put competitor rivalry aside and we are working together to raise awareness of opportunities in property amongst students and school leavers.”

Nick Thomlinson, Senior Partner, Knight Frank LLP, continued: “Knight Frank is delighted to be part of this most welcome initiative to broaden the diversity within our sector. This initiative is about bringing more exceptional people into property alongside those already committed to property as a career. We’re looking forward to reaping the results of these first steps.”

Chris Dunford, Human Resources Director at CBRE, added: ““Deciding on a future career can be a daunting prospect, and being armed with information about different industries can really help the decision making process. Property is an extremely sociable industry, and the Property Needs You initiative and Skills London offer a great opportunity to meet school leavers and discuss some of the myriad opportunities available on undertaking a career in real estate. Attracting a diverse range of people and skills is essential to the future success of the property sector success and we’re looking forward to discussing some of the potential career paths property can offer.”

Bryan Laxton CEO UK, Cushman & Wakefield LLP, said: “Cushman & Wakefield is very excited to be part of the Property Needs You initiative and Skills London will give us a fabulous opportunity to interact with thousands of young school leavers and students to raise their awareness of all the wonderful opportunities a career in property has to offer. Property is a very varied and interesting career for those who like working with the best people in a friendly and positive environment. Although it is focussed on land and buildings, it is really a very people-centric industry where there is a lot of interaction and some of the best brains are brought to bear on creating an ever changing and improving environment in which we all live and work. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anybody who wants to feel the satisfaction of seeing the effect their work has on everyone’s daily lives.”

Mark Ridley, Chairman and Chief Executive, Savills UK, said: “Property is a diverse and ever-evolving industry and we strive to ensure our future generations of employees reflect the varied requirements, cultures and interests of our clients. Property Needs You is an innovative and welcome collaboration between the key players in the market to encourage and attract new talent into the industry.”

John Slade, CEO of BNP Paribas Real Estate UK, concluded: “We are proud to work together with other leading industry players on the Property Needs You initiative. It is essential to the future of our industry that we spread the word and encourage talented students from a range of backgrounds to look at property as an exciting and rewarding career opportunity.
