Gerry Weber expands into Sweden

German fashion giant to open 15 stores

Gerry Weber is to expand their European presence with the opening of 15 stores across Sweden over the next three years with the help of commercial real estate agent JLL.

Creating quality garments with personality, Gerry Weber is a favourite among fashionable women worldwide. With more than 700 stores and 2,800 concessions worldwide the German fashion house entered the Swedish market with last year’s opening of the Emporia mall in Malmö.

“There´s a very high sense of fashion consciousness among Swedish women and we deliver on our promise to offer dynamic lifestyle brands to ambitious woman of all ages. With the remarkable success of our first store opening in Malmö last year we see a huge interest for Gerry Weber in Sweden and will step up to meet that demand and aim to be present in all major cities in the country,” explains Klaus Friedrich, expansion manager at Gerry Weber.

“We are experiencing high demand from brands wanting to enter Scandinavian market right now. Strong market fundamentals meant that Sweden and Scandinavia were relatively unaffected by the financial crisis in Europe which is encouraging international brands to look closer. This interest has been boosted by the high interest in fashion shown by Swedish consumers who typically also travel a lot, which further boosts the demand for more international brands in the home market.” Said Martin Lindgren, Senior Retail Development and Leasing Manager, JLL Sweden.
